Col. Chen Yongjing, Chinese Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Vientiane, hosted in Vientiane on July 29, 2016 a reception to mark the 89th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Minister of National Defense of Laos Chansamone Chanyalath, Chinese Ambassador to the Lao PDR Guan Huabing, and high-ranking officials from Laos and China attended the celebration.

“Over the past 89 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have fought bravely for national independence and liberation.  They have made great contributions to the peace and development of China,” said Col. Chen Yongjing.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army, growing from small to powerful, has today become a modernized and combined armed force, safeguarding the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of China.

“Peace and development remain the main themes of the present time.  The People’s Liberation Army of China is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with armed forces of all countries on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefits.  The Chinese armed force is willing to actively fulfill its international responsibilities and obligations, and to contribute to the peace and common development of the world,” said the colonel.

He noted that the People’s Liberation Army of China is ready, together with the Lao People’s Army, to strengthen their friendly exchanges and cooperation in the fields of military construction and national defense in order to safeguard regional and world peace and stability, and to enrich the global strategic partnership.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of Laos-China diplomatic relations.
