The government of Indonesian provided financial support of US$1 million to the Lao government on Tuesday in Vientiane in support of its ASEAN chairmanship.

The aim was to support Laos’ role and duties as ASEAN chair in 2016, according to the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The assistance was made on the occasion of the Indonesian delegation’s participation at the ongoing 28th and 29th Asean Summits in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.

The funding was not only a significant contribution to promote cooperation among Asean friendship countries but will also serve to solidify the relationship between Indonesia and Laos.

In the past, the Indonesian government also provided some finances and equipment to Laos when it hosted the 9th Asia-Europe Summit in 2012 and the 10th ASEAN Summit in 2004.
