This year, ninety-five Lao students in six provinces were granted scholarships from Nghe An University of Vietnam worth of 6.5 billion VND

(almost US$300,000), a great contribution to enhancing bilateral cooperation.

At the same time, Laos also granted seven scholarships to Vietnamese students to study the Lao language in the provinces of Xieng Khuang and Borikhamxay. This is a bilateral programme for exchange students to help with the human development of the two countries.

Vice Governor of Nghe An, Mr. Le Xuan Dai briefed on the general conditions of cooperation in the three Lao provinces of Xieng Khuang, Huaphan, and Borikhamxay on 9 June 2016 during a visit by a delegation from the Lao New Agency at his office.

Nghe An is the hometown of late President Ho Chi Minh, a neighbouring province of Laos, and has an International Border Checkpoint.

“More than 90 businesspeople from Nghe An run businesses in Laos,” he said.

In recent years, Nghe An has closely cooperated the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce to organise several trade fairs and trade exhibitions in Laos and Vietnam. This is a good example of the cooperation between the two countries.

Laos and Vietnam also exchange visits with each other during important occasions.

Nghe An helped Xieng Khuang Province to construct Cultural Houses in Khoun district and Phonsavanh and has also assisted the province in several different cooperation projects regarding agricultural development.
