Transmission line network management to be improved

Electricite du Laos (EDL) and General Electric International Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation to study a proposal to improve the transmission and distribution of electricity through a line network.The General Directors of the two companies, Mr. Boun-oum Sivanpheng and Mr. Wounter Van Wersch, signed the MoU in Vientiane Capital on September 5.

The study intends to cooperate with two local universities with the objective of contributing to human resource development.

Furthermore, the cooperation between EDL and General Electric International Inc will lead to greater investment in the electricity network, help to link neighbouring countries and help the country effectively embrace new technologies.

General Electric International Inc has also agreed to support students of National University of Laos and Poly-technique College who aspire to develop their skills in the complex skill of electricity line management.

The company will help to develop and improve the curriculum as well as provide training with the objective of increasing the capacity of local workers.
