Local residents who had to leave their homes to make way for the construction of a dam on the Nam Ngum river in Ngeun district, Xayaboury province,
will receive compensation, the Pathetlao Daily reported yesterday.
Authorities assessed the situation in January this year, concluding that 250 households in Thong, Namthon, Phadaeng and Kok-ngiew villages were eligible for compensation by the hydropower project.
