2,200 People Infected with Dengue in First Half of 2016

More than 2,200 people across the country have contracted dengue fever since January this year, of whom nine people died,

the Laophatthana newspaper reported on Thursday.
An official from the Ministry of Health said most of the cases occurred in Champassak province where more than 1,000 people contracted dengue and seven people died.

This was followed by Borikhamxay province with 304 cases
and one death, while Saravan province recorded 96 cases and
one death. Another 221 cases reportedly occurred in Khammuan province, while Vientiane registered 121 cases. A further 125 cases were reported in Savannakhet, 80 in Xekong, 70 in Attapeu, 77 in Luang Prabang, and 37 in Oudomxay. No deaths were reported in these provinces.
